I dremt this morning that I put a post up on my blog about Adrien Brody--so here it is. His eyes are so pretty. And I'm a nose woman. He has very sexy, confident screen presence. Of course, his mom is photographer Sylvia Plachy. I saw King Kong on Christmas Eve. That movie totally blew. But the costumes were pretty awesome. The film mentioned size-4 costumes for a certain character. From my days in the Costume & Textiles Collection at the Wisconsin Historical Society, I can tell you that this was bullshit. That's not how clothing was sized back then. (As an interactive movie consumer, I did not hesitate to share this insight with whoever was in hearing distance.) Even though the movie was dreck, it was a consolation knowing I was going to be looking at Adrien Brody in dapper period menswear. It seems he spends a good part of his time in dapper period menswear. See The Pianist, The Singing Detective and Liberty Heights. Oh, also The Last Time I Committed Suicide, though he didn't have much screen time. But he looks good whatever he wears. I loved him in Summer of Sam and Love the Hard Way. Thank god he's a brilliant actor.

Shoo has opened kitty-corner from where I work in Milwaukee's Third Ward, replacing the odious children's store Sprout at 241 N. Broadway. The sell Cydwoq, Miss Sixty, Diesel, Tsubo and United Nude--that line co-created by Rem D. Koolhaas, nephew of the superarchitect. To say nothing of the Portuguese (!) shoes they carry. Also cool bags aplenty. Their website should be up and running in mid-January, I think. They're open Monday-Saturday 10-6; Thursday 10-7; and Sunday 12-4.

I have a gig to interview Tegan and Sara again. They did this PETA ad that's on the back of the Winter 2005 issue of Venus. I'm like, Aww, look at them! They're so cute! I saw them when they played in Madison last December. They're teeny-teeny in person. And they rock the 80s hair that really ought not work. I've been trying to figure out who they remind me of for the last year. At first I thought it was Joan Jett. Hmmm...no. Ok, I got it! Jane Fonda in Klute. Or not. I'm looking at this ad last week. And. The truth is, they look like Alyssa Milano. I mean that in a good way, though. T&S have a DVD coming out this spring. The last time I interviewed one of them, I asked if they were available. I came off sounding like the biggest dolt ever. Oh, great, now one of them thinks I'm really clueless. Yeh, so what? It's not like they did it [become quasi-famous rocker types to ] be friends with me.

I went to Fasten yesterday. That was the whole point of my going to Bay View. Many of the designers there do a lot of cut-up, recycled kind of stuff. My opinion is that that kind of stuff can be ok, but I'm sort of past it. They are carrying stuff by Christina Perez. Her work, which I've seen in Lela in the Third Ward, is always really cute and well put together. And her prices are so affordable!!! I was going to buy this adorable top, but, well, as can the the case with cute little tops--the boobie clearance wasn't optimal. Fasten is in Bay View at 2365 S. Howell Ave.

I watched the new Star Wars movies over Thanksgiving holiday. Hayden Christensen is my new crush. He's attractive in that yummy kinda girly way. I was trying to figure out who he reminds me of. And finally it occurred to me: Darren Risley, a guy several years older that I used to go to church with. I think Darren's a chiropractor now. He was a really great guy. He always looked really sharp when I was growing up. From time to time, he and his brother appear in my dreams. Another guy I dremt of recently was my friend Geronimo Washington. I knew him in Iowa. I would run into him on the street. He would compliment my outfit, and it would make my fucking day.
